About us :

We would like to introduce ourselves as “THE ASSOCIATION OF STATE ENGINEERS & TECHNICAL OFFICERS (ASETO), WEST BENGAL’’ representing the interest of Engineer officers and Technical officers belonging to Group ‘A’ constituted State Service and other State General Services, in the rank starting from Assistant Engineer or equivalent to the Secretary to the Govt. of West Bengal level. 

The Group ‘A’ Engineers and Technical officers of following Departments of Govt. of West Bengal, belong to this association ;-

1. Public Works Department / Housing Department.

2. Irrigation & Waterways Department.

3. Water Resources Investigation and Development Department.

4. Public Health Engineering Department.

5. Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Department.

6. Panchayat & Rural Development Department.

7. Technical Education & Training Department.

8. Labour Department.

9. Power Department.

10. Finance Department.

11. Higher Education Department.

12. Commerce & Industries Department.

13. Transport Department.

14. Animal Resource Development Department.

15. Sundarban Development Department.

These constituted Group ‘A’ Engineering Services (West Bengal Service of Engineers & West Bengal Senior Service of Engineers) and other General Services, who deal with engineering and technical issues for the development of the state, were created in various departments of Govt. of West Bengal with a view to shoulder the responsibilities assigned to the Departments under the rules of business framed within the constitutional provisions.

There are Fifteen (15) organised Engineering/ Technical Officers cadres in Govt. of West Bengal, in particular in the infrastructure related sectors. Engineers are involved in diverse activities of Design, Construction, Manufacturing, Maintenance and Operation of systems. There are a wide variety in functions and profiles of the departments in which these cadres exist. The Engineering cadres and other General Service of Technical Officers are recruited through the examinations conducted by the Public Service commission, West Bengal.
